Hi to both of you. Yes, it has been a long time for MyStars!
One of the major goals of releasing Time Zone Master is to prepare for a new MyStars! TZM is using alot of the new formulas that will be in the next MyStars version.
I decided to go with TZM first, since the old GCLOCK was no longer usable due to tz rule changes since it was originally released. TZM solves that problem now and into the future, by keeping itself up to date using internet updates.
This is technology that will also be used in the new MyStars!
P.S. Sorry about losing the date of your first logins into the other site. That information was not portable to this new site.
Looking forward to beta-testing TZM, if you'll have me.
Hi David,
Len from Wichita Kansas here. Happy to get the email announcing the new web site. As you may remember I have been a MyStars! fan since Windows 3.1 days. Haven’t been able to use MyStars lately because I lost my key two or three computers ago but good to hear from you just the same.
Hi Len. Wow, its like homecoming week around here :)
As for your key, you can sign into the site, then go to 'My Account' then 'Orders'. Your registration info should be there. And if you dont have your software anymore, you can download MyStars! again, install, then enter your key.
Hi David,
Stopping by from San Angelo, Texas in the United States of America.
Still enjoying the Time Zone Master which has become a integral part of my computer desktop.
I like the unique and fun additions to your website, "Snap! The Sundial App" and "Mayan Countdown."
Looking forward to the release of MyStars 3!
John
Greetings
Thanks for the feedback on the site, and products. One lessor known fact about the sundial app is that underneath it uses the same timezone engine as Time Zone Master. This ensures that its time of day for any of the selected cities is corecct - with the appropriate zone offset and daylight/summer time offset.
MyStars! 3 of course is ethereal (maybe as it is supposed to be LOL), but each large and small app along the way is part of the building steps towards MyStars3. Its not forgotten, just a big project that takes many steps to get there, as I get back to this type of development.
Is there any plan to make MyStars! 3 compatible with ASCOM so it could guide a GOTO telescope mount? I have other planetarium software which does this (heh, sorry to point out it's a competetive market!), but for useability, navigability and clarity, MyStars is still my preferred astronomy prog.
Hi Phil.
The problem is not what should be in it, as I have a hundred ideas including driving a telescope. Yes, there is a plan.
The problem is the time. With other pressures to deliver software, squeezing in the time to finish MyStars3 is the biggest problem. I missed commitment dates in the past and Im wary of making new commitment dates now. But when it is done, and the pieces are coming together slowly, it will be a free upgrade for many people.
But thank you for the feedback on MyStars! 2.7. It turned out pretty well.
